Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has reported on wars and natural disasters for over 45 years, focuses on the suffering of those who live in these places. Curry has covered the conflict zones of Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in Agana) is an American anchor, reporter on television and journalist. She was most famous as a correspondent on the Today Show, a daily morning news show broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry gained notoriety for her reporting on catastrophes caused by natural causes and humanitarian crises that took place in war-ravaged regions. Curry was the child of an U.S. Navy sailor and a Japanese woman. Following World War II, her parents came together when her father served in Japan. The family was frequently in and out of the country due to the military duties of her father. Curry finished her high schooling at Ashland Oregon. When she graduated from University of Oregon, Curry received a bachelor degree in journalism degree in the year 1978. When she was a young woman she was exposed various different cultures. Her journey to an impressive career when she started her broadcasting career by working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon. She was later the first news reporter female in the station's history at the age of 22. In Portland in Oregon, she was appointed anchor and reporter by KGW which is NBC's subsidiary. After moving to Los Angeles, she became a reporter at KCBS TV within four years of having moved into the city. In her time with the station she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
